Making your Gift to MBCC last beyond your lifetime.
When you make a Gift to MBCC, it can either be outright or deferred (such as through a bequest in a will or trust). By making a bequest to MBCC in your Will, your support of the Club can become your legacy to the community long into the future.
What is Legacy Giving?
General bequests in your will are legacies left to certain people or causes. The bequests come from the general value of your estate. They are made by designating to the cause of your choice a specific dollar amount, a particular asset such as stocks or bonds, or a fixed percentage of your estate.
Why remember MBCC?
Legacy Giving allows you to make a donation to MBCC that is mutually beneficial. It helps the Club continue its mission to strengthen connections among neighbors, and maintain a gathering space for neighbors to come together, get to know each other and build community. Legacy Giving is your investment for an effective Club and a healthy community.
At the same time Legacy Giving allows you to remain in control of your funds or property during your lifetime and to reduce estate taxes for your inheritors.
How to include a legacy Gift in your Will.
An example of a general bequest: I give and devise to Mount Baker Community Club, (EIN: 91-0980717), a nonprofit corporation organized under the laws of the State of Washington, all (or the percentage of ______%), of the rest, residue and remainder of my estate, both real and personal, to be used at the discretion of its governing board.
Please consult with a professional trained in handling trusts and estates, for the various bequest options available to you and for language specific to your Gift.
